During the last week I put out a gaijin-tsukaihoudai, a week free of ‘using a (the) foreigner’.
This day I were called for narration. I heard it turned out ok.
…If you were observant you might have catched the not-so funny gag in there.
Kids these days.
I joined some of them. See they all live out in Hashimoto, and most of them don’t go out to places like Shibuya. Most just seem to linger around the local eat-/drinkaries around Tama. Shibuya and the likes are somewhat of a new concept to most of them.
Example: one or two of them actually did some limbo dancing out on the street. Never seen that before in Shibuya.
Swedes might do it a bit differently. Alas, I love both schools of out-of-townary.
Meet Daniel. He came here about 2-3 years ago. I forgot exactly when since it seems so long ago, perhaps longer than it really is.
We got to know each other over at Newstoday as he were skimming the condition of the Japanese industry for creatives. Once he came over I shared some work and that’s the start of the story. There’s more to it but I’ll keep it short: despite coming in from scratch (market-wise) he eventually recieved work with some huge agencies here like Hakuhodo, but lately found something much better.
…Unfortunately, abroad.
A day or 2 before departure We had some serious talk about life, birth, lawyers. Ask me about it some other time.
Here’s to both of us and that it all will, once again and as always, solve for the better.
(He came! He came! The speedskater from hell)
(Dear deer in the headlights)
(Some…some couldn’t wait for the next-next place which would naturally be karaoke)
(The Befriendening)
(Some were clinging for me to put on a nice pose)
(Perfect eyebrows)
(Unsynchronized posing)
(Yeah yeah, you play cool now…)
(…when seconds later someones stomach comes out)
(I think the mic was on)
(How beautiful isn’t it(?), the today you live in?)
(Joy joy joy)
(That last comment wasn’t too clear, now was it. Click for the (real) music video)
(Who ever said J don’t understand irony/sarcasm? Actually I can’t tell anymore, I’ve sort of given up)
(The kid can dance. But is he…The Best kid?)
(We’re still doing “Joy” by Yuki btw.)
(Wellwell, Oats + Curry, everyone)
I know it’s all right, but I got praised a little bit extra (too much, perhaps) by my professor for some work I did on a menu. He finished the meeting by asking me to come work with some graphics for the university during spring.
Met Kazue. Perhaps not the most interesting story, but…
It felt good. She’s been sorry (perhaps even pissed. Yes most likely pissed too) I broke up with her in a certain Information Design fashion: by email.
This was years ago.
She was demanding a proper brakeup (and, of course, an apology for the mail-one) last week. I had my doubts. But I went. We had dinner, she told me she was leaving for a life in NY in February, and perhaps it was meant for us to meet on that train so I could finally apologize properly before she went.
And I did.
Said it again by the station on the way home. We had a final hug and said goodbye.
Felt very good to get the apology from off my chest (I were, in fact, an asshole at the time). And I could tell she felt good too.
I don’t think I’d ever get that from my last girlfriend, but…that can’t be helped – she was too young. Young people don’t do this sort off stuff.
Wow, visitors came by. Kuro from Canada swung by Tokyo for a few hours – beers were in order. Beers, which have been piled up between us for a year.
Also, yakitori. But those hadn’t been piling up.
Sadly I got no picture. My Camera ended up at Natsus place since yesterday.
Moving on, last train out to Hachijouji for more beers. Kaxx and newcomer Alex are folks that aren’t usually around when I’ve gotten togheter with Shogo. Gyama, of course, and , Kanako + Tomo were there too.
Btw., met Kazue on the train out there. Turns out – I was supposed to…
