Jibeterians

(Now also at station platforms)

As mentioned in yesterdays post I went shooting today. All turned out well, almost better then expected.

Anyhow: Jibeterians – the word comes from putting “sitting down” and “-terian” (as in vegeterian, etc) togheter. It’s a few year old slang for people sitting outside. Mostly in front of conveniensstores due to a lack of benches. More then often with snacks.

I used to be under the impression this is an inner-city phenomenon, but through more focused observations I’ve lately been proved wrong. Here, I made a graph of my findings:

wow

That was a long and boring post.

Mondays & cellphone raburabu

(In lack of a monday-specific picture: 100 yen toilet toys. The see-through one has rainbow-colored poop)

Where to vent, where to vent…
Mondays, one of the more busy days of the week for me.

Sunday nights I do ads ALL night. It’s the only day of the week I have to get in the mood for ads during these months. That means no sleep. Unless of course you coun’t those coffee-injected hours between 5 to 7 am when your body crawes sleep but your mind is still in high gear. Last night I made an ad of a pen leaking ink on a shirt.

Back to Monday – with about an hour behind me of lucid dreams from sunday I do the university bit until 12:30. After that I head to work where I plan ads, schedule my days, prepare mails and write copy for my ads – while actually doing some work too. This finishes after 9 pm and I head back home.

Food.

I check my schedule I’ve just updated at work and find I don’t have too much varied stuff for tonight. For the ads I need to reach some PR persons for images to download. I do some more mails, some product shots I can take home, etc.. Yesyes, but the real big thing on my schedule is jolted down as “DynaSched, Scenario 1-3 h-w”. It’s my gradutaion-work and this thing has to be fully designed before 31st. Mind you, haven’t started on the graphics yet – need to write a few more pages of “flow of events” and such before I can even start working on the graphics. That’s this weekends work. 6 months of piled up work I honestly don’t care much for compressed into a day or two.

Did I mention I do most of my university thesises and papers either at work or on the train?

So anyways that flowchart I’m writing tonight have to be in Wednesday. Also dutifully noted in my schedule. This means tonight I don’t think there’ll be much sleep again.Tomorrow I’m heading out all the way out of Tokyo to shoot more materials for my ads, so it has to be tonight. However I should be able to squeeze in an hour or two of furtherering my writing by doing it on the train over there tomorrow. On my cellphone of course. Forget laptops, they require seats. Or, you know, one of those camerastraps, but that’d just look moronic.

Wonder how many people do this? Writing grad-works on their cellphone, on packed trains, carrying a ruck of photo-equipment…

Sidenote: the stuff I had to turn in today at University…written on my cellphone this morning, on the train there. Printed during recess. Rushed to the teacher after. Made it in time.

So, what would my schedule look like without a cellphone?
I certainlly wouldn’t have written this post on the train back tonight.

There you have it, my general monday. Ok, end of rant/vent. I’m not doing Tuesday. Fridays I do, they make up for the majority of posts on this site. The coming Friday is marked down as “Fun”. Should be great. I need to reschedule some sleep for Thursday night. To enjoy “Fun”.

Some yazz on a Saturday

Yasu – to some – known as the sharpest dresser in Hashimoto.
Hello Kitty undies, fleece-bag and gitarrstraps as belt. How awesome isn’t that!
Had to take points – even for when just buying innerwear.

A’ ring-a-ding-ding

Mattias, a.k.a. unagi, came to town. In need of some elevation we headed for Park Hyatts New York bar 52 floors up for cigarrs and a few cosmopolitically correct drinks. No, not cosmopolitan – long island ice tea. Hold the mint, straw and most of the coke. I don’t do drinks that comes in a pointy cylinder-shaped glass.
We talked about sex on spacecrafts, private trains and the good old days of Razorfish Tokyo; representatives from Sony in sweaters and jeans.

Aah, the days when you could afford to look sloopy.

Heidi

Heidi. She’s from the alps. Here’s a link for those that don’t know her. This post has a point, but I’ll get back to that later.

Copycolada

Since yesterday and here forth I will do all my copy on the 29th floor. Regardless of my places tininess it’s a snag bit lonely at home. Or should I say uncrowded: background buzz is more appealing -creatively- than whatever spewing out of my speakers. I guess what I’m trying to say is…I have poor taste in music or I need someone at home to do copy with.

drtz

Fun night playing darts. And informative as well, but I’ll write about it when I feel like it. Just wanted to post this entry so I can backtrack it in March. There.

No more Fridays?

“No more Fridays?” -not a “Scheduling” term of mine, yet, but I’m referring to our fine softball team “Fridays” and the loss today. We are out of the tournament despite two (spectacular, I might add) homeruns by yours truly.

Have to hang up the uniform for an undecided amount of time. Suckage.

Yet all is not bad in the house of Fridays – if we were to make a bowling team we could sport the same uniform. Something tells me we…just might.

gei

Let me tell all of you reading this blog something very important, so read carefully. Both of you.

Geisai, the single most important event of the year…

is pretty great.

Also, it’s happening next month.

Preparations have been underway for a year,
money has been paid,
t-shirts been printed and
Yurayura Teikoku booked.

Hoshinos cockroach suit is being sewn,
Yoshikos edible underwear are ready and sort of waiting,
I’m preparing meatballs.

Days have been schedueled off (rare),
posters urging people to call the staff in case someone falls have been posted,
and I believe someone in our little group arranged a getaway trip afterwards to get us back to the sober reality.

It’s an art festival if you’re wondering.
Can’t wait.

update 2007/10/16:

Yurayura won’t be coming this year.
Ego wrappin replacing. Also good.
Here’s a video.

Sono hi!

(If you read Swedish, and tiny tiny letters, you’ll find that the circled ‘event’ in my schedule reads “Vila forifan”)

So, I officially lost it. Well not yet but I am scheduled to next month. The picture above is a screendump from my daily schedule.

As mentioned – I’d be busy. But this is ridiculous; gone from scheduling sporadic meetings to – scheduling the one evening (a’ month) of “resting”.

This stress is perfectly cool for me if it weren’t for one thing: it’d destroy my life if I can’t make it in time.
By destroy I mean “in a series of events, get me kicked out of Japan”.
If it were something like “loose 10000$” I’d have motivational stress. This time I’d say it’s more of a hair-loosing-, impotence-encouraging-, heart-burning sensation of crushing stress. And that’s not good for anyone.

But it was expected. One might even say it was…..planned.

omg.

Mahjong? Walls? Color corrections?

(A picture of my wardrobe -> Why?)

Stress is getting the best of me. Wall’s closing in. Slowly, slowly.

Damn you walls!

(Wardrobe -> I’m stressed, that’s why. I do stupid things when I’m stressed. Like mailing Tamu. I mean, mailing her is never a stupid thing. But telling, in the middle of the night, that I want to play Mahjong with her (it’s a 4 player game) is so corny.
What was I talking about? Oh, the picture above is work in progress. Tsubasa (the guy) needs some serious bronz-ination. Also, the clothes, the rest, that needs some serious colorcorrection. Also, I need to finish my university stuff too. And start worrying about my visa a little more maniacally. And learn how to play Mahjong.)
